Our City

Is there any purpose to life? Many people are satisfied finding their purpose for life in their jobs or relationships. As followers of Jesus Christ we believe that God has a beautiful divine call for life.

Individualism is an empty way of life. God invites us to embrace "Our". In the scriptures the meaning of the word "church" is to be a people (not a person) that is "called out". Part of "our call" is being "called out" of a life of individualism to a life of belonging.

It is easy to believe that the goal of life is all about striving to be a good person. A life that is focused on striving only results in guilt and shame when we don’t measure up. The scriptures reveal that God's call for life is an invitation to rest. God invites us to a life that flows from His unconditional love rather than a life focused on striving to measure up. I am still seeking to personally apply this truth to my life. It is my nature to want to prove myself rather than depend on what Jesus freely offers to me.

“If the son has set you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)

Discovering God's call for life is not a one time event, it is a lifetime journey.
and it is not designed to be done solo. As we journey together living out our calling to rest in God’s love beautiful things happen! Forgiveness is received and given, hope replaces despair, and love conquers fear.

At Resurrection I am continually amazed at the unique ways that "Our Call" is lived out. May our thoughts about the Kingdom of God keep us awake at night as we imagine what God has in store for those who rest in Him.

"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" (1 Corinthians 2:9)

It is vital that as a community of believers that we have a clear vision of where we are going. This vision does not come from the “top down” but is whispered to each other through the stories of the people who make up Resurrection. In these stories we hear glimpses of how God will uses us to see the Kingdom of God transform our lives and those around us.

Resurrection Lutheran Brethren Mission Statement:
As believers compelled by the love of Jesus, we communicate the Good News of God’s Grace to people locally, nationally and globally so that they will trust Christ for life to the praise of His glory.

As you find yourself compelled by the love of God to see God’s will done on earth as it is in heaven, we welcome you to embrace the opportunities and people around you.

At Resurrection we hope that people may experience three things.
1. A sense of belonging
2. Support in believing God's call to rest in His complete love.
3. That as we grow together we may become the people God created us to be.

This vision is not:
-to be watched
-only for the qualified
-boring
-a competition

You are invited you to see it as:
-alive
-life giving
-powerful
-limitless
-beautiful
-of God

Enjoy the journey!
